Nowadays it seems that "country music" is just an empty word used by Nashville executives to sell any kind of artist who wears a hat , if that! In this worlds, J.P. Harris' album sounds like a breath of fresh air. Without sounding retro or anything, there comes someone who stays true to real hardcore country music and knows its roots as show the various influence that can be heard on this album (Merle haggard, Buck Owens, Red Simpson, Hank Williams, western swing, rockabilly). This twelve self penned tracks have been recorded in 2011 in Louisiana with members of the Dixons and the Red Stick Ramblers. Contrary to the so-called country stars of today, Harris is a real man and knows the people he sings for (he worked as a carpenter, apple picker, lgger lived in hobo jungles and travelled the country on freight train). This experience oozes in his music that goes direct to the heart.
